Materials with a second life

ABOUT RERE-LOOP

RERE-LOOP was founded in 2021 with a vision to give forgotten materials a new life.

The brand works with unravelled, once-loved garments - textiles that already carry a history - transforming them into handmade crochet pieces with a new purpose. Each creation is shaped by the story of its fibres and the time invested by hand in its making.

Guided by a commitment to sustainability, RERE-LOOP chooses not to contribute to the growing amount of textile waste, but instead reintroduces existing materials into the creative cycle. Every piece is made in small quantities or as a one-of-a-kind design, embracing the unique possibilities found within reclaimed materials.

RERE-LOOP celebrates transformation, individuality, and the quiet poetry of renewal.

ABOUT THE MAKER

My name is Réka Fazekas, and I am a visual artist and art teacher originally from Hungary, currently based in Lisbon, Portugal.

My work as a visual artist has always been guided by a love for collage - from simple paper compositions to complex material installations - exploring how materials meet, interact, and tell stories.

This sensibility carries through everything I create, shaping the way I approach colour, texture, and composition.

RERE-LOOP is an extension of my artistic practice. Working by hand with textiles is a slow and attentive process, one that allows me to connect with materials in a deeply personal way. I am fascinated by how each piece carries layers of history while taking on new meaning for its wearer.

Through my work, I hope to encourage a more mindful and personal relationship with clothing. Every RERE-LOOP creation celebrates the uniqueness of handmade objects and the beauty that can emerge through transformation and renewal.

THE PROCESS

Every piece begins with a material that already exists.

Second-hand knitwear is carefully selected and unravelled by hand. The yarn is then prepared, reworked, and transformed into new garments and accessories through crochet.

Because reclaimed materials are at the heart of the process, no two pieces are exactly alike. Variations in colour, texture, and fibre become part of the design itself, making each piece truly unique.
